A Skeptic Tries a Body Wrap

by: Honi Alexander

I am a true skeptic—I should have been born in Missouri, the Show Me State. So when Melody Kinman of Suddenly Slender, based in Parker, Colo., said I could lose six to 20 inches in a matter of hours via a body wrap, I said, "Yeah, right… show me." I’m not overweight, and I’m in relatively good shape. I figured a body wrap involved a dehydration process and wouldn’t work because I wasn’t holding a lot of excess water weight. Basically, I set out to prove her wrong.

I filled out a questionnaire about my general health and the areas of my body I would like to see slimmer. I was weighed and then measured all over.

Then the wrap began. Melody started with my feet, using ace bandages that had been soaking in a warm "special food grade inorganic mineral solution." I was literally wrapped snuggly, from my toes to my fingertips. Melody put plastic bags on my hands and feet to capture the run-off solution and, most important, the impurities and poisons expelled through my skin.

These bags were "dumped" about four to five times during the wrap. My question to Melody was, "Isn’t that simply the solution coming off the bandages?" Her reply: "Some of it is, of course, but your body is absorbing the minerals and eliminating the poisons. The more we "dump", you’ll see the liquid become more and more cloudy, and those are your body’s impurities being eliminated."

So far, so good, I thought. But would I really lose at least the guaranteed six inches? I’d know in about an hour.

While wrapped, it is important to do moderate exercise or movement to enhance circulation and mineral-to-poison exchange. I didn’t work up a sweat. I simply walked slowly on the walking machine as we talked.

After about an hour, I was "done". Melody unwrapped me so I could dry off and change into dry undies. Developers of the Body Wrap recommend against showering immediately so that the body continues to benefit from the minerals in the special solution.

I was given a warm towel, then weighed and measured again. Surprisingly, my weight remained the same, but my measurements had changed. I had lost one inch off my waist and each of my thighs, as well as fractions of inches off my arms, hips, etc. My skin appeared to be smoother. When Melody left the room so I could get dressed, the skeptic in me came out. I walked up to the mirror and looked closely. I could see a difference, but here was the real test: I had worn tight, too tight pants so that I could see if they fit better after the wrap… and they did! They were looser in the waist, hips and thighs.

This skeptic was sold on the spot! I had lost a total of eight inches. Three days later, my thighs still look and feel smoother and slimmer.

Melody told me that among the benefits of the program are its immediate results. Clients are motivated to begin or enhance a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a healthy diet.
